Introduction
Heavy-weight paper plates are disposable plates made primarily from bagasse, the fibrous waste material left over after sugarcane is processed for sugar. They are commonly referred to as “sugarcane pulp molded plates” or “bagasse plates” in the market. To help you better understand this product, we have created a chart outlining the details.

Production process
1
Pulping
The plant fibers we procure for making disposable lunch plates are in the form of dry powder or dry pulp boards. We need to mix these materials with water in a specific ratio in large pulp tanks to create a pulp mixture. Currently, different pulp systems have different characteristics, but the pulping process is consistent.
2
Pulp extraction and pressing
After scooping the pulp with a pulp net, it is pressed. Different shapes of materials require different molds for pressing, but the pulp nets are basically the same. Different shapes of hard disposable plates require different molds for production. You can choose and customize different molds to produce products of different shapes.
3
Drying and shaping
High-quality disposable plates and cutlery undergo a drying process after pulping. After drying, the products are essentially finished, but some products still require secondary cutting, drilling, secondary lamination, or even printing and other processes for customization.
4
Inspection and packaging
High-quality disposable dinnerware undergoes strict inspection and disinfection before packaging. Manual inspection checks the surface cleanliness and for impurities, while machines detect any potential metal residues inside. These inspections are mandatory and strictly performed before shipment.
Secondary processing technology
Logo printing
The logo printing on paper lunch plates requires a secondary, individual printing process. Multiple colors can be printed simultaneously during this process, but the machinery required for multi-color printing is quite complex, and therefore the price is correspondingly higher.
Lamination treatment
Disposable lunch plates can undergo lamination, but this process requires secondary processing. The lamination machine’s dimensions must match the production equipment, and the lamination process requires the same pressing molds as those used for the product itself.
How to identify pulp-based tableware products?
Many people on the market refer to heavy-duty disposable dinner plates made of pulp as “paper tableware,” but in reality, pulp tableware and paper tableware are very different. To help you better understand the differences between these products, we have listed several aspects below:
Surface look
There is a significant difference between cardboard disposable tableware and heavy disposable plates made from pulp. Cardboard tableware is smooth on both sides and can be customized with any printing, while pulp-based products are not as smooth, especially on the back, which often has a mesh-like pattern.
Coating method
All paper tableware products have a surface coating, making them oil-proof and waterproof, and suitable for multiple uses. However, pulp-based heavy-duty disposable dinnerware products have no surface treatment, which is why we often say that pulp-based products are plastic-free, environmentally friendly, and high-quality products.
Color customized
Pulp-based hard paper plates cannot be customized in any color; they are only available in basic white and natural colors. However, cardboard-based products can be customized in any color, whether multi-colored or single-colored, with virtually no additional cost. Even special processes such as embossing or hot stamping can be applied to these paper plates.
How to buy a high quality product
Choose professional factory
Only a professional factory can guarantee the quality of your disposable plates and cutlery. Advanced equipment and dust-free production workshops are essential conditions, and many small factories do not have the necessary facilities to produce these products.
Choose mature team
A mature production team for high-quality paper plates is also a guarantee of qualified products. Our experienced production team has a strict quality control department and an excellent mold development department, which is very helpful for both the production of your existing products and the development of new products.
Quality checking
To ensure the quality of your heavy-duty disposable paper plates, we typically have highly professional personnel conduct rigorous quality inspections. We can also accept third-party testing designated by you, or even product sample testing.
Send your requested
Generally, we produce heavy-duty white paper plates according to your requirements. The product’s load-bearing capacity, size, and color are all based on your specifications. Most of our products can be customized without any extra cost.
